September 17th – New Covenant Athletics hosted their first Home Cross Country meet of the season on Thursday. In a day that was filled with visiting runners, strong winds and heavy rain showers, the Gryphon runners overcame the elements to put on excellent performances.Â
The meet saw 14 different visiting schools visit the New Covenant campus, some participating in the Middle School race, some in the Varsity race, and several in both. In total, 250 runners took to the trails to compete for individual and team victories.Â
It was a good day to be a Gryphon, both the Men’s and Women’s Middle School teams turned in team victories for NCS Athletics.
Following that up, Michael Seckman and Eli Rose finshed 1st and 2nd in the Men’s Varsity race, with times of 18:43 and 19:37 respectively.Â
Shortly after, Tinley Tucker came across the finish line with a time of 21:11, good enough for a 1st place finish in the Women’s category, and helping to lead the Lady Gryphons to a team victory!
Despite the conditions, the difficulty of the course, and strong competition, New Covenant XC won every race that they were eligible for. Coaches were thrilled with the performance, as the team looks to continue building on their strong early season results.Â
